Frozen Strawberry Pupsicles
Time: 5 min + 4h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 6 medium pupsicles
Ingredients
- •6 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •100g plain unsweetened yoghurt (check: NO xylitol, NO sweeteners)
- •60ml coconut water (plain, no additives)
Method
- 1.Blend or mash strawberries until smooth.
- 2.Mix with plain yoghurt and coconut water.
- 3.Pour into silicone pupsicle moulds or small ice cube trays.
- 4.Insert a small dog biscuit or lick mat stick as a handle (optional).
- 5.Freeze for minimum 4 hours.
- 6.Store in a sealed bag in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.
Portions: Small dog (under 8 kg): half a pupsicle. Medium dog: 1 pupsicle. Large dog: 1-2 pupsicles.
Note: Always verify the plain yoghurt you use has no xylitol, artificial sweeteners, or fruit flavourings. Use plain, full-fat, unsweetened only.

Strawberry-Banana Mash
Time: 5 min|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 1-2 servings
Ingredients
- •2 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •Half a small banana (about 40g)
Method
- 1.Mash strawberry and banana together with a fork until smooth with no large chunks.
- 2.Serve immediately at room temperature.
- 3.Do not store - make fresh each time.
Portions: Toy dog: 1 teaspoon. Small dog: 1 tablespoon. Medium dog: 2 tablespoons. Large dog: 3-4 tablespoons.
Note: This mash is suitable for puppies from 8 weeks (extra-smooth mash). Banana is high in natural sugar - keep total fruit intake for the day in mind.

Strawberry-Coconut Ice Balls
Time: 10 min + 2h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 8 small balls
Ingredients
- •4 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •3 tablespoons coconut oil (melted, cooled)
- •1 tablespoon unsweetened desiccated coconut
Method
- 1.Blend strawberries to a puree.
- 2.Mix with melted (cooled) coconut oil.
- 3.Pour into a small silicone ice cube tray.
- 4.Sprinkle a little desiccated coconut on top of each.
- 5.Freeze 2 hours. Pop out and serve.
Portions: These are relatively high in fat due to the coconut oil. Small dog: 1 ball. Medium dog: 2 balls. Large dog: 3 balls.
Note: Avoid for dogs with pancreatitis or on low-fat diets due to coconut oil fat content. Suitable for healthy adult dogs only.

Strawberry Training Treats (Tiny Dice)

Ingredients
- •Fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
Method
- 1.Dice washed, topped strawberries into the smallest pieces your knife allows (aim for 0.5-1 cm cubes).
- 2.Use immediately as high-value training rewards.
- 3.Do not store diced fresh berry for more than 2 hours at room temperature.
Portions: Each training treat is approximately 0.5 g and 0.2 kcal - extremely low calorie. You can give many without impacting the daily allowance.
Note: Fresh strawberry is a surprisingly effective training reward - the scent and moisture make it very appealing to dogs. Ideal for dogs on calorie-restricted diets where high-fat treats are not suitable.

Frozen Strawberry Kong Stuffing
Time: 5 min + 2h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 1 Kong
Ingredients
- •2 strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •1 tablespoon xylitol-free peanut butter (check label every time)
- •Optional: 1 tablespoon plain yoghurt
Method
- 1.Mash strawberries to a rough puree.
- 2.Mix with peanut butter (and yoghurt if using).
- 3.Stuff mixture into a Kong.
- 4.Freeze for minimum 2 hours (frozen Kong extends the chew session significantly).
- 5.Serve frozen.
Portions: Size the Kong to your dog. The filling amounts above suit a medium (Kong Classic size 4-5). Scale ingredient amounts up for a giant Kong.
Note: Critical: check the peanut butter label every time you buy a new jar. Some brands have changed formulations and introduced xylitol. Look for peanut butter with only peanuts (and possibly salt) in the ingredient list. See our xylitol guide.

Strawberry-Cucumber Summer Bowl Topper
Time: 5 min|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 2-3 servings
Ingredients
- •3 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed, diced
- •5 cm cucumber, diced (skin on is fine)
- •Optional: 1 teaspoon plain yoghurt
Method
- 1.Dice strawberry and cucumber into small pieces.
- 2.Mix together and top your dog's regular meal with a tablespoon of the mixture.
- 3.Store remainder in fridge for up to 24 hours.
Portions: 1 tablespoon per 10 kg body weight as a meal topper. Not a meal replacement.
Note: A refreshing summer topper that encourages hydration. Cucumber is 96% water. Suitable for dogs on calorie-restricted diets as cucumber is very low calorie.

Strawberry Bone Broth Ice Cubes
Time: 5 min + 3h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 12 small cubes
Ingredients
- •2 strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •200ml plain dog-safe bone broth (no onion, no garlic, no salt)
Method
- 1.Mash or finely chop strawberries.
- 2.Mix with bone broth.
- 3.Pour into ice cube tray.
- 4.Freeze 3 hours.
- 5.Give 1-2 cubes as a hot-weather treat.
Portions: Each cube is about 15ml and very low calorie. 1 cube for any dog size as a hydration treat.
Note: Bone broth must be dog-safe: no onion, no garlic, no added salt. Make your own from raw bones or buy a specifically dog-formulated broth.

Dehydrated Strawberry Chews
Time: 30 min + 6-8h dehydrate|Difficulty: Medium|Yield: 1 punnet
Ingredients
- •1 full punnet (about 400g) fresh strawberries
Method
- 1.Wash strawberries thoroughly. Remove tops.
- 2.Slice lengthways into 3-4 mm slices.
- 3.Lay slices on dehydrator trays in a single layer.
- 4.Dehydrate at 57°C (135°F) for 6-8 hours until fully dried (no moisture centre).
- 5.Cool completely before giving to your dog.
- 6.Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
Portions: Dehydrated strawberries are calorie-dense (roughly 10x the fresh weight equivalent per gram). Give very small amounts: 1-2 slices for small dogs, 3-5 slices for large dogs.
Note: Do not use a food dehydrator set above 60°C. Higher temperatures can create harmful compounds in the concentrated sugars. Do not buy commercially dried strawberries with added sugar or sulphites - make your own.

Strawberry-Oat Dog Cookies
Time: 15 min + 20 min bake|Difficulty: Medium|Yield: About 24 small cookies
Ingredients
- •200g whole-wheat flour (or oat flour)
- •100g rolled oats
- •100g fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •1 egg
- •2 tablespoons coconut oil or unsalted butter
- •2-3 tablespoons water (to bind)
Method
- 1.Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 2.Blend or mash strawberries to a puree.
- 3.Mix flour and oats in a bowl.
- 4.Add egg, coconut oil, and strawberry puree. Mix well.
- 5.Add water one tablespoon at a time until dough comes together (not sticky).
- 6.Roll out on a floured surface to 6 mm thickness.
- 7.Cut with small cookie cutter or knife.
- 8.Bake on lined tray for 18-22 minutes until golden and firm.
- 9.Cool completely before giving to your dog.
- 10.Store in fridge in airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
Portions: Each small cookie (about 10g) is roughly 35 kcal. Toy dog: 1 cookie per day as treat. Small dog: 1-2. Medium dog: 2-3. Large dog: 3-4.
Note: These cookies are a proper treat with meaningful calories. Count them in your dog's daily calorie budget. Do not use nut butters or flavoured ingredients in these recipes without checking for xylitol.

Strawberry-Blueberry Frozen Bites
Time: 5 min + 2h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 16 small bites
Ingredients
- •4 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •20 fresh blueberries
- •Optional: 2 tablespoons plain yoghurt to bind
Method
- 1.Dice strawberries small.
- 2.Halve blueberries (halve for small dogs, whole fine for large dogs).
- 3.Mix together (with yoghurt if using).
- 4.Spoon into small silicone ice cube trays or drop onto lined baking tray in small clusters.
- 5.Freeze 2 hours.
- 6.Give 2-4 pieces per serving.
Portions: Each bite is about 5g and 4-5 kcal. 2-4 bites as a summer snack is fine for most dogs.
Note: Blueberries are one of the most nutritionally valuable dog-safe fruits. Combining with strawberry makes this a high-antioxidant treat.

Strawberry-Coconut Yoghurt Swirl
Time: 5 min + 2h freeze|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 4 portions
Ingredients
- •150g unsweetened coconut yoghurt (check: no xylitol, no sweeteners)
- •4 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
Method
- 1.Mash or finely chop strawberries.
- 2.Swirl into coconut yoghurt gently (don't fully mix - keep the swirl visual).
- 3.Spoon into small paper cups or silicone moulds.
- 4.Freeze 2 hours.
- 5.Serve semi-frozen (5-10 mins out of freezer for a soft consistency).
Portions: Small dog: 2 tablespoons. Medium dog: 4 tablespoons. Large dog: 6-8 tablespoons.
Note: Coconut yoghurt is suitable for lactose-intolerant dogs that cannot have dairy yoghurt. Ensure the brand has no added sweeteners.

Strawberry Dog Smoothie
Time: 5 min|Difficulty: Easy|Yield: 1-2 servings
Ingredients
- •3 fresh strawberries, washed, tops removed
- •Half a banana
- •150ml water or plain coconut water
- •Optional: 1 tablespoon plain yoghurt
Method
- 1.Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- 2.Serve in your dog's bowl immediately.
- 3.Do not store - consume within 30 minutes of making.
Portions: Small dog (under 10 kg): 50ml. Medium dog (10-25 kg): 100ml. Large dog: 150ml. Not a meal replacement - a training session cool-down or hot-day treat.
Note: Great for post-exercise or training-session hydration in warm weather. The banana provides potassium. Best served within 30 minutes of making to retain vitamin C.
